New 2011 iMac Takes First Step to Shutting People Out
I just got the new 2011 iMac made by Apple. It is a really nice machine. Upon further inspection, I discovered that Apple does not make it user friendly to upgrade your hard drive. Not only did they make it so you have to remove the whole glass and display, but these machines have an extra 3 contact points for temperature sensors that control the speed of the hard drive cooling fans. Now this is a great idea to keep the hard drives cool, but the problem is if you put a standard hard drive inside it the sensor isn't going to work and the fans will just run at full blast with a mind blowing drone. They only known way to remedy this is to either have apple upgrade it and pay them a boatload of money, or do it yourself and purchase a program that controls the fan speed so the sensor doesn't make them blast 24/7. I love Mac and enjoy their computers but when an owner can't upgrade his own hard drive thats a problem. I hope Apple doesn't start making computers almost impossible to upgrade cause the last thing left is RAM.
